Adult Ministries at St. Stephen
Sunday Morning Church School
Church School is from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in
the Education Building. For adults, St. Stephen offers
year-round classes in addition to classes which are each six
to twelve weeks in length. Signs and greeters will direct you
to your class.
Starbucks Class
Starbucks is designed for those who wish to create a
community with the other adults at church and to enjoy
biblical and spiritual topics with lots of discussion; those
with questions are most encouraged to voice them here.
Meeting in a casual environment, upstairs in the middle of
the second floor, you’ll find the Starbucks Class – across
from the Godly Play room.
Northminster Class
The Northminster Class is designed for thinkers and
analysts and those with current yearnings for questions and
answers. The class usually hosts a variety of teachers and
scholars to present up and coming current issues, scholarly
topics, scientific theories and postulates, and global
ideas. If you like to discuss what’s happening in the world
today, this is the class for you. Meeting in a lecture type
environment, this class is held in the Northminster Room,
above the church office at the top of the stairs.
Fisher Class
This Fisher Class offers a weekly Bible Study lesson from
the Bible Discovery curriculum, “The Present Word”. Several
teachers lecture on the biblical passages in depth. The
beginning of the class is punctuated with joys and concerns,
hymn singing, and prayer. Musical guests occasionally are
invited to join the class. Meeting in the Eastminster Room
on the first floor of the Education Building, all are
invited to join in.
Introduction to Being Presbyterian (for New
Members or Inquirers)
One to two times a year, the Inquirers or “intro” class
is offered at the church for those newly joined to our
congregation or for those interested in finding out more
about our denomination. Typically the classes run during the
Sunday School hour, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. for about 6 weeks.
Please contact us to see when the next Intro class is
offered.

Docent Guild
The Docent Guild offers knowledgeable tours
of the church facilities including information about the
architecture, the appointments and furnishings of the
buildings, and the meaning of the religious symbolism found
throughout St. Stephen Presbyterian Church. Tours of the
sanctuary are offered at 12:00 noon on the fourth Sunday of
each month, as well as by appointment.
Sacristy Guild
The Sacristy Guild is responsible for the preparation of the
Lord's Supper including the upkeep of the communion ware. It
is under the supervision of the Worship Committee.
Sanctuary Martha's
Volunteers are responsible for cleaning and preparing the
sanctuary before and after worship services. Labyrinth
Guild
The Labyrinth Guild was formed in 2005 with the donation
of a portable
labyrinth as a memorial gift to Don Pierce. The Guild is
responsible for educating the church and the community in
the use of the labyrinth, an ancient prayer and meditation
tool. The Guild is also responsible for conducting guided
labyrinth walks, which are lead by a trained facilitator,
and for offering open walks, which are labyrinth walks not
requiring the services of a facilitator. Both guided and
open walks are scheduled at various times of the year
coinciding with other St. Stephen services and with
important liturgical events of the church year. |
