Becoming a Member of St. Stephen
St. Stephen welcomes into membership those who profess
faith in Jesus Christ and who commit themselves to the
worship and work of the Church.
We value our church as a place that nurtures, educates,
and challenges us to become thinking and acting Christians
in our community and world. Church membership is an
important step in each person’s spiritual journey.
The steps for becoming a member are as follows:
- A member of the Membership Committee will offer to
visit with you to answer your questions.
- New members are received regularly by the church
Session (the governing body of the local church) through
profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith, or transfer
letter.
- New members are strongly encouraged to attend a
membership class that is led by our pastor and held
several times during the year.
- All new members are received during a worship
service, and are welcomed into the life of the
congregation. At the conclusion of the service, a
church-wide reception is held in honor of our new church
members.
Our pastors are available to talk with anyone
interested in becoming a member.
